Kimdee24...you could have the rug shipped to the Coutts border (in AB) and then drive down and pick it up.

The coffee table should be 18" from a seating piece to be useful. I think it would look great closer to the chairs. Hope you can get the rug you want.

@decoenthusiaste -- yes, you're right... I will move it closer. I have wondered if perhaps it's too small, altogether, but for now it is what it is. There is an end table between the chairs that is hard to see in the photos as well. Rugs are proving to be a tough decision, but I'm sure I'll find something that I love, eventually.

Love your room and the way you've decorated it. If it were mine, I would have a beautiful large red Afghani carpet, large enough to fit under the lounge and the chairs, plus I would put a small table between the 2 chairs. Also, I would like to see a much larger coffee table. For anyone sitting on the lounge, it's nice to be able to reach anything (drink, coffee) on the coffee table.

I think a classic Persian type carpet adds a timeless quality and warmth to a room. There are some gorgeous blue/cream ones around which would also look wonderful, but the traditional dark red ones are so rich looking.

@sugar100 -- thank you so much! I am not a big fan of red, but I would consider a blue/cream. It's hard to see in the photo, but there is a small table between the two chairs, and I am considering a larger coffee table but it will have to wait for now!

The room is gorgeous! I would recommend a rug with blue and brown & one that's large enough to fit under your couch. Good job!

I was curious, so I just went to West Elm and changed my shipping info to Canada and my currency to Canadian dollars, so it appears they do ship to Canada. I think you should check again. It makes no sense that they wouldn't ship there, especially if they have stores there.

When i was lookong to buy an overdyed rug from West Elm in Toronto remember there was option to get it delivered for some small fee.

Agreed, Michele. I think it might wander on down to the guest bedroom. It just looks... tight a bit. I think I'll lose it and center the sofa on the rug.

@kimdee. Looks really good! The free flowing form of the rug pattern is a nice contrast to the upholstered chairs.

After you get the couch centered on the rug, sit on the end where the end table got "lost." is the glass topped table close enough to that end of the sofa for a person to reach it? A person might want to set a beverage on a table....

Your rug looks great! And I love the punch of the coral pillow. If you could find one or two other spots of that color to include, that would be optimum. Agree that the sofa and chairs might need to move a little closer together- coffee table and seating shouldn't be further than 18 inches apart.

Wow, kd, that has so finished your room perfectly. There is just the right amount of pattern in it to give the room that extra lift. Congratulations on an excellent choice - was that 2 am your time or mine :)) The coral does wonders for the room too.

So a quick question - where did you get the chairs? I am on the hunt for a pair of chairs - tight back, full track arms, and reasonably high back so husband is comfortable. You know, nice big, slouchy chairs but that are not big-looking (who said it had to be easy!).

Ms Roo -- thanks, I am totally in love with this rug! And I agree about the coral, it just really brings out the color in the room, and makes the teal stand out even more. The coffee table wouldn't fit next to the chaise, it's too big unfortunately :( I have moved it closer to the sofa, but 24" is the best I can do or you can't get between it and the chaise...

Kathy -- Thanks! The chairs came from LazyBoy, I think they are called "Allegra". They're pretty comfy, and they are not overly large. I think they'd be great paired with a small ottoman to put your feet up on.

Isn't it a great feeling when you find something you totally love. You are inspiring me to get my room finished.

When you have a similar table between the two single chairs, I don't think it would look odd closer to the chaise and lounge. Don't know about you, but if I have company, furniture seems to get moved around the suit the occasion anyway. You have to keep to a glass table now to see the rug.

Agreed, Ms Roo -- things always get moved around for parties and whatnot. I lost the little side table, and it looks much more balanced now. The chaise creates an odd space for a table, but the round table I think is best and I'll keep it. The two chairs share the small round table between them, so it works out ok.

The rug is 9x12 and I was thinking as I was putting it all together, that it could have been 10x14 even, that room is quite long, longer than I realized until the rug went in, so I'm glad I didn't go 8x10! We had initially thought about small ottomans or poufs for the chairs, but I don't think there is room now and still keep everything on the rug.

There is quite a bit of space between the chairs and the railing, and the chairs ended up closer to the sofa and table in the end than they were before, because of the rug.

Kd - can the rug come out from under the lounge a bit? When you are ready for your next workout ;)). Would let you take the chairs further back if you wanted or just give you more rug behind them. I've never had rugs so not quite up on all the technicalities. I used a square ottoman to offset that awkwardness with the chaise, plus I have another lounge making a U shape that the ottoman fits into. I'm happy with it, it is working well for me, but I wouldn't like anything solid to cover any more of your rug.

Glad you moved the table, it felt wrong. Too little for the rest of furniture. Is it happy in guest room?

Ms Roo -- it's already partly out, but I could probably give myself another six inches or so. And yeah, i don't think I want to cover up the rug too much. I'll live with it for a while and see how it feels. It's not like there is a lot of sitting going on in those chairs at the moment anyhow. I'd love to see your room(s) sometime, I'm sure they are lovely and I know you've been busy redecorating lately too!

Mforr -- the table is still sitting in the great room, I've been too lazy to haul it downstairs, but I'm sure it will be happy down there! It's actually a good width/height table for the guest room, and I think I might paint it to match the painting I plan on doing to the dresser in that room....this winter maybe.

OK, I was just guessing, it was hard to tell exactly. I don't think I would like a gap when the other chairs are full on the rug.

I still have a lot more finishing touches to do before I start photographing, everything is pretty bland at the moment and I'm just recharging my batteries while waiting for BH to take off o/s again in a couple of weeks to really get stuck into things. It has been so constantly overcast here to get good photos so I figure by September I will have things done and we may have some nice Spring weather and some decent light. I won't forget you.

The back legs of the sofa/chaise are on the floor, I could still have six inches and keep the rug underneath... so it would work -- when I have the energy to move things around again! Funny -- they shipped the rug pad separately and it won't arrive until Monday -- what are the odds that thing is actually going to make it under the rug? Slim and none! It will be a long time before I feel like pulling everything up again to do that!

Kimdee: These puzzle stools might be a nice alternative to the round table in front of the sofa. I see the dilemma of the size and shape of the round table. Maybe a drum table low and larger in diameter than garden stools.
