We just bought a house that hasn't been updated since the 80's. The living room has a chair rail with wallpaper above and paneling below. I want to use some creamy neutrals to add warmth, but the fireplace has bricks that are grey, white, and orange-red. What colors should I go with, and do I paint the chair rail and paneling the same color and a different color above the chair rail? I'm trying to tie it in with the kitchen (which is to the left in the picture) that is also in need of a makeover. Any suggestions are appreciated.
