We have a 1966 shake shingle split level. It’s a little like living in a dungeon as there is very little natural light and there were few effective fixtures. We took on two rooms this weekend.

I wanted to update the look of our bathroom vanity light fixture without getting into the electrical needs of moving it since it is also quite off-center. It was a very inexpensive project. I used dowel rods and cut them down with a hacksaw. Then I wrapped it in some scrap fabric I had. My husband suggested adding picture hangers to the top so we can easily replace bulbs. It worked perfectly! And, it really is much brighter.

We also replaced a dining light. I purchased this replacement from Amazon. It also really lightens and brightens the space.
