Your drapes need to be on much longer rods so that the windows look larger so when you do that you will also need fuller drapes I think. The art above the frieplace does not work,could be it is just hung too high but I think you need a mantel. I am not sure where the TV is in the space maybe a pic from further back would help .

You could look at prefab fireplace surrounds to beef up the fp and add depth and interest. There are many styles available. What size is the fireplace now? And Patricia is right about the curtain rods being wider. Also once the curtains are fixed, you could eliminate or relocate the kitty-corner console.

decoenthusiastes post shows correct placement of curtains. Then I agree you need a prefab fireplace surround to give dimension, then perhaps some tile or other various treatment (stone, wood, etc) to give some interest to that very flat wall. Best of luck!

I like the artwork but agree that the curtin rods need to extend out. Even if you put a floating shelf above the fireplace for now it would look more cohesive.

I agree on extending the drapery rod and then fuller drapes or if you can add another panel to each. You could add a mantle surround. Or if you don't want that I think I would paint the molding around the fireplace the color of the wall. The art work over the fireplace is too small now so something more rectangular that would have more height.

Change out the gray chairs for two red uholstered chairs and.throw some multi-colored pillows with some red and gray and a couple of other bright colors in them and toss them here and there. The fireplace picture would look nice if it had a little red and some other bright colors that are in the throw pillows. The fireplace floor surround could be two tones of gray and make a checkerboard pattern of 5-inch medium and light gray tiles. A mantel would look good, in my opinion.

I think it would look great to have fireplace with tile surround, a wood casing that extends to the ceiling and a matching mantle.

General agreement that the curtains need to be wider -- considerably wider. To make the point:
