Bottle palm wintering indoors .. lighting

last modified: 8 years ago

I have three 3 year old potted bottle palms that are healthy and vibrant. North Alabama winters mean moving them indoors for the winter. I purchased them as sprouts and now they are getting bigger and want something they an grow UP with on a longer term basis. The blue spectrum side of a MAXSISUN 300 watt LED is what I have used with much success.

Given the information provided my question is..

Is it still wise to stay with LEDS in the blue spectrum and add them and is it better performing over Metal Halide (MH)?

Will a dim-able 600 watt MH perform better longer term in a garage style shop that has central air but no outdoor sunlight to supplement?

I understand LED's last longer but Is one better over the other for palms?

I have spent hours and hours searching and everything I read pertains to Marijuana but not palms and I am not sure LED's are the best choice for maturing bottle palms. Building our new home and want to make the right lighting choice since we don;t have the advantage of winter sunlight streaming in. TIA
