X-Back Dining Chairs - quality differences between brands?

I'm looking to purchase several x-back bistro type chairs for my small dinette area. I've done a lot of searching online and have found several to choose from. Has anyone purchased this style chair and have a recommendation on where to purchase. Unfortunately, I haven't found a chair locally, so I'm faced with having to order online. Restoration Hardware carries several options and of course is the most expensive. Ballard's and Birch Lane/Wayfair also carry versions. I'm starting to go blind staring at online pictures and people's reviews etc.

Restoration Hardware Option

Ballard Designs

Wayfair

There are probably 4 choices on Wayfair/Birch Lane/Joss & Main ranging from $95-$240 a chair.

Would greatly appreciate any first hand experiences with any of these chairs.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Worth a try if it's something you are going to buy anyway. They want to get buyers off the fence!

From everything I've read, the quality of RH is not at all commensurate with the price. Of the three choices, I would probably go with Ballard. Wayfair to me is always best when you can go with a brand name you trust; their no-name or house brand furniture is like RH, where you're generally paying more than you should for dubious quality.

I have no experience with Wayfair. We have kitchen stools from Ballards (not the style you show) that have been sat in almost every day for 4-plus years and still look brand new. I have been very happy with them. Very sturdy

I can't imagine having to get chairs without sitting in them first. Since you are faced with this I would go with the best return policy, on the chance you find them uncomfortable.

Something I learned- Wayfair's portfolio of brands includes Joss & Main, Birch Lane and All Modern. However, the same item may be called by a different name & the price may be different. I always check the prices.

Here's an example:

$619- https://www.jossandmain.com/furniture/pdp/daisi-60-tv-stand-mtna1928.html?piid=22568511

$549- https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/hd0/daisi-60-tv-stand-l6-k~mtna1928.html?refid=GX103455957163-MTNA1928_22568514&device=c&ptid=353254267655&network=g&targetid=pla-353254267655&channel=GooglePLA&PiID%5B0%5D=22568514&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1tysguCz3QIVmI7ICh0qwwkOEAQYASABEgJssvD_BwE&piid=22568511

I found basically same chair at World Market so thinking I could try that one and could return in person if I didn’t like. However I have found Ballard to have pretty good quality items. It’s just the shipping charges for returns I am hesitant about especially for something as large as two chairs.

Shipping cost is a factor.

As for Ballard, around Thanksgiving/Christmas they may have free shipping offers. If you feel like it, sign up for their emails, OR put the items in your cart, and you may get sent an email offer of some type (15% off your first order?) within a few days.

I bought my dining/kitchen set from World Market 15 years ago. It has held up very well.
