They may do better in partial shade.

Raspberries are a real difficult one. In moist cool climates they can grow like weeds, but in climates with a lot of heat they can be very challenging to grow, much harder than blackberries.

'Caroline' is supposed to be a bit more heat tolerant than many others, but I haven't really observed it to be that heat tolerant. The most heat tolerant cultivar is 'Bababerry'.

'Canby Red' may be another one with slightly more heat tolerance. 'Dorman Red' has decent heat tolerance but not good fruit quality.

Any updates on the raspberries? I live just north of the coast in Alabama, so I'm curious as to how they turned out for you.

They have grown considerably since I planted them last year, though no fruit yet. Very spreading growth, definitely needs a trellis for support.

I got this at garden show here in southeast Texas zone 9. I got it last year and this year it has grown a lot, but no fruit. It also has the tiny hairy thorns and that makes me wonder if it was mislabeled? (Its supposed to be thornless.) Anyways, the plant is doing fine so if its any kind of raspberry at all thats a success in itself I suppose .. I just want it to fruit!
