Cute little Guest Bedroom on a budget in Small House Before/After

This was a small, unwelcoming spare bedroom in the basement of our house that was used only as a storage room previously. Completely under used space in a small house that needs every square inch to be useful. My husband and I are experienced DIYers who are renovating our entire home almost entirely ourselves. We had a very limited budget for this room, as we wanted to save here to be able to spend more in other more important areas of the house (kitchen, master bath, etc.) Nearly everything in this space was reused from other parts of the house except the 2 bedside tables, the comforter set and a few accessories. New flooring, doors and trim completed this reno. We now have a bright, friendly, comfortable guest bedroom that our family enjoys using (as the previous blow up mattress in the family room wasn't the most enticing place to spend the night in our house.)

We have 2 bedrooms in the basement of this house, one decorated in more feminine decor, one in a more masculine manner, which I will post shortly. To see the adjoining bathroom for these 2 rooms, the family room in this basement, as well as the staircase, check out the posts in my profile activity.

As usual, we realize this won't be everyones cup of tea here, as we all have different tastes and likes. It fits our personalities and style and we love it. This post is to show what you can do on your own if you don't have access to a very large budget, contractors and designers- but do have access to determination, imagination and are willing to do most of the work yourself.
