That is a glorious bloom

Kristine this is my first David Austin bloom ever...I can't believe how pretty it is. I put this rose in a big pot because being my first fancy rose I wanted to keep it near me right where I sit on the patio. I chose a bronzy colored pot thinking it would look nice with the buff color of the rose and I was right.

It is a beautiful combination. I love my David Austins. The blooms are so beautiful. I have plans for several more.

I agree about having some pots where I can really enjoy them

Wow and the smell of this rose is so fantastic. I was just out smelling it this morning. It's a rose scent that is also sweet and lemony...I can hardly wait until it has more blooms to scent the air.

As it gets older it will open a true yellow from orange buds -- let us hope. That happened to me after I had had it in a container for 5 years. But then I transplanted it and it looks like I will have to wait another 5 years or so.

It's so delicate and full, full of multi-petals. The white cream color is nice with that type of bloom form too.

Mine had a light yellow bud and has lightened each day to where it is almost white. It will be interesting to see the difference in color each year.

Wow it has buds again!! Too cool... I can't wait to see what they look like in this cooler fall weather...I'll post photos when one opens.

I can't believe how many photos there are of this rose on Helpmefind, attesting to its popularity, despite its strangeness. I would love it for the name alone.

Yes it's a bit strange and I felt like it might be hard to add to my landscape, but in a bronze colored pot on my patio it's fabulous:)

pippacovalent - Congrats on your first bloom! My CD was a bit variable in his first year in 2017.

It now tends to open in the orange/goldish tones, then fades to the whitish peach color.

Wow that's wonderful I'm so excited to see more. There is a bud on it right now and I'm hoping the aphids I found the other day didn't damage it before I got rid of them.

I got this rose new this year (own root as Dr. H is somewhat meh here). It had a slow start due to being own root, but when it finally bloomed i was very happy with the form and the amount of petals it contained. I also liked the bit of variation it its coloring. Once it produced a very pretty yellow and pink bloom similar to the top right one in Anne's collage. Its a good rose and I'm thinking of making space for it in the garden. (Right now its in a very large pot).

Ann I agree the fragrance is amazing. When I had that first bloom I must have stopped to smell it 100 times a day. Do you know what category that scent falls into? I read descriptions of roses scents but don't really know which are which. I know I love CD and I've also dmelled Munstead wood and loved it too.

My CD isn't blooming right now for me to check but I think he has a "tea fragrance" similar to my DA Charlotte rose. Maybe someone else can chime in here!
