I don't understand. What are the ceiling beams for?

If you don't need the beams for any structural reason I say don't put them in at all.

I agree that non-structural beams are not a good thing. You have a pretty space. Why do you want to add unwarranted ceiling clutter?

Why are you putting beams in here? They will just make the ceiling seem lower. Save the money for something that will make a desirable difference.

IMO if you don’t know the answer to this question you are already making a mistake. Faux beams should only look like they are really part of the structure and in 95% of them that is not the case so they look like the add ons they are / Forget the beams and if you want I guess you could do a coffered ceiling.

I think even coffered ceilings would be a mistake. I think I’m seeing an angled fireplace in there. Those are always a challenge. Offering the ceiling will really be odd, looking like a mush-mash, in that corner. Like someone played puck up sticks on the ceiling. I vote for, leave the whole thing alone.

The layout of your furnishings appears to not work for your room. and if the room was correctly laid out, decorative beam locations might be more apparent.

A space divided like that, and with a corner fireplace is not appropriate for fake beams. They will never look real. I'd first find a cabinet to hide that kitchen trash can.

I like the warmth that the beams add. but truly it needs to make sense . im not do sure a beam would start off the half wall . layout of furniture is hard with a limited floorplan .. maybe take a layout to a desgner .. for furniture and beam placement . it would be worth the consult in the long run! good luck!!
