I have a brug that is over 6 feet tall and hasn't 'y'd yet. It was a limb cutting from my pink sauveolens that I stuck in a corner to try to get some shade on a table. The original part of the cutting hardly grew at all, but it shot up a shoot from that cutting that is now over 6 feet tall. I know that sometimes root shoots can get that tall, but this isn't a root shoot. It actually came off of one side of the original 'y' on that branch cutting.

As a matter of fact, none of my brugs have grown well or 'y'd' this year, despite constant fertilizer (alternating Miracle Gro 15-30-15 and bloom fertilizer, plus an application of 6-9-6 bloom special) and watering. Even the original sauveolens plant sent out a shoot that got about 4 feet tall and another than is only about 2 feet tall, and neither one is showing any signs of growing any more or blooming. The cuttings I put into a 5-gallon container have also stopped growing and don't show any signs of blooming.

Usually, the grow like mad in the summer, then 'y' and bloom in early fall, which is now. Instead, nothing. I just put the Bayer 2-in-1 insecticide and bloom fertilizer on them, to try to encourage them to bloom.
