strep repotting questions

Hi I have had my first strep for about a month now and it has its first bloom already. From what I have read now is a good time to repot correct? It is in the 2.5 inch pot that it came in and I would like to put it in a 3.5 oyama pot.

Also the videos I have watched on repotting these plants I never see anyone cleaning the old soil out of the roots. I do that with my other plants and orchids so is not a good idea to do it with a step? From what I have seen they make a hole in the pot and drop the plant in old soil and all.

I just wanted to confirm this with some more experienced growers out there.

It's a good idea, just give them some shade and extra humidity while they re-establish themselves for a couple of weeks.

ok thanks. I wasn't sure why they wouldn't clean off the old soil unless they had super sensitive roots.

Well, it's faster and appropriate if you repot often as streps prefer. I'd only do a complete repot (as you mean) once a year, but streps prefer new soil at least every six months. I like shallow pots.
