Centering light on dining table troubles

Hello! I

ll Get right to the chase. I moved into my place a few months back and had my popcorn ceiling removed. It was fully furnished. There was an ugly chandelier hanging above the overly large dining table at the time. When I had my ceiling fixed my electrician told me to just let the ceiling guys plaster over the hole from where the chandelier was hung and once I got a new table he would laser the center and put a new light box in.

QUESTION #1

I have a table now and I purchased a hanging light. However, when my table is centered, it is a little to the side of the vaulted ceiling’s peak. Should I hang the light to the side of the peak or try to center it on the peak just for looks. If I center the light ballast on the peak the light will likely not be centered on the table. I’m also not quite sure what all will be required to center it and it may exceed $$$ I have.

QUESTION #2

My place is fairly contemporary and I purchased a simple hanging light to go over the table. However, this light is 24” in diameter and has an 11” ballast so the ballast is quite large. It would be larger than a standard fan box assembly which fits in a ceiling peak. The light can be hung at an angle easily as the wires which suspend the light are adjustable.

Opinions?
