Framing Paintings - sources and considerations

I was at a local event this AM, and ended up coming home with two paintings by a local artist. While I'm not quite far enough along in our build to know where they'll go and what precisely I'm going to want, I have now cause to wonder -

Where does one find frames for actual paintings, as opposed to having a print framed and matted? They're pretty standard sized canvases. But I REALLY don't want "barn wood" or anything that looks like it fell down the stairs.

For reference, the paintings:

The first is 18" x 24"

The second is 16" x 24"

A quick toodle through Hobby Lobby and Michaels today didn't get me anywhere. Everything is either "barnwood," black, or gold. So where WOULD I go for a correctly scaled lighter wood in a profile that isn't too modern? Something in a maple or birch, but that will go with a more vintage style interior.
