Thank you, I'll have to look around. I don't know that we have a frame shop right here in my town, but I would imagine there is one in a nearby city. I hadn't thought to look for a framing shop, specifically, I guess!

Go to a good frame shop. The choices range from simple modern to ornate intricate gold leaf frames and everything in between. A good frame shop will spend time with you to come up with the frame or mounting style that best complements the look of the art. It will be pricy, but if you choose the right frame, you will never need to change it.

Look at floating canvas frames. Pictureframes.com is a good online source. I have one of these on a large-ish canvas painting and it's quite nice. Provides a finished look to the art but is minimalist so really lets the art take center stage.

A frame shop will have lots of options for matting and frames. Just be warned that framing is expensive.

Re frame shops, yes, custom framing is expensive, but mine also sells some off the shelf frames as well. Cheaper than paying them to frame it.

I can wander into a good frame shop and spend an hour just browsing through some of the beautiful frame choices available. I have a few things I need to frame too.

My local Michael's has a decent selection of standard sized frames in black, white, and wood. Modern or traditional, varied widths. It's only when I want other colors or looks, or oddball sizes that I have to go custom. Maybe the selection varies by location. But you can always check their website, or there are a plethora of other online sources for frames.

If the paintings are stretched canvases as opposed to canvas board, you'll need offset clips to hold the canvas in the frame.

There’s no substitute for a good old fashioned framing store run by someone who knows what they’re doing. I find simple floating frames work beautifully for most paintings.
Custom framing is certainly worthwhile for original artwork that you plan on having for a long time.

Custom framing shop is the way to go. It’s very $$ but worth the investment. We do a piece or two a year and it’s $ well spent.
