Something is attacking my Brugmansia ...

A few weeks ago a couple of my Brugmansia plants started showing signs of pest attacks ... huge holes started appearing in the leaves and I suspected that something was eating them alive. After spraying a couple of times I discovered green caterpillars which I removed then a few days later I found pupating caterpillars which had started to spin cocoons and fix themselves to the underside of the leaves. So I stripped off all of the damaged leaves, leaving the stems looking rather lanky and bare.

Anyway, new leaf growth has started to appear, but the remaining, what were healthy leaves have now started to show signs of attack even though I've been spraying with a good quality insecticide !

damaged leaves More ... and even more

As we now live in Spain, I'm at a loss to know what to do to protect the plants and get them to flower again. Any input would be most helpful. Thanks
