it depends on the kind. Which one do you have ?

hyed has one beside his house. He recently posted pictures but the more sun paniculatas have, usually the better. The only thing to consider is that they may flop if they get wet and look "weird" with the blooms pointing downwards so I guess some protection from storms may be useful. hyed has the house on one side of his VS so that sounds good enough.

They prefer a fair amount of sun and ordinary soil moisture, far less than big leafed hydrangeas. Size varies a lot with your particular selection, so knowing which one you have as guyground commented is important to the amount of space needed. The tree form comes from training, so you will need to remove any sprouts on the “trunk” while they are still small to retain the form.

BR. What tree form did you get. Def stake it. Mine would sway in the summer when it become um-er top-heavy. On year 2, it felt like I could unstake it. She started a lean...so I staked it back up t did not really take hold until the following year.

I'm blown away at Hyed's version of tree form - I don't have the patience for such. I need instant gratification..I do see her version as well can have some losses and still be tree form. Plus many more trunks to feed multiple branches,

    Hi everyone,

It's a Pinky Winky hydrangea tree.

It is a wide guy in shrub form, 10-12 feet in some places, so select the location accordingly. Just wondering... what does the plant label say? I am assuming it has one, no?

I know it does not exist, but man, wouldn't it be lovely to have a treeform blue or purple blossmed round one......

What can I say. While the uber whites of the LL and reliable guranteed blooms are great, imagine them in blue. Eh, one can wish right

The nice thing about tree hydrangea is you can keep them more compact if you want. Just prune each branch back by 1/2 early spring.

You can restrain the size of Pinky Winky some, but I would give it at least 8’-10’ since my unpruned version is at least 12’ across. On an established panicled Hydrangea IME any pruning done will regrow to something approaching the original size over the course of the season.

Thank you everyone for the advice. Here's a pic of the plant. I checked the plant label and there's no information on the estimated size.

Thx Hyed. The spot where I really want to put some blossoming tree-forms, I have had my eyes on some DA Tree Form Roses. They switched nurseries, have had some production setup. No bueno for the last 2 years.

I know what's coming as it's simmering in the back of my head already.

Sketch/draw up something the garage once winter keeps me indoors. The build a frame and do a climbing rose instead
