I'm also interested in recreating this concrete wall around a fireplace and would love to know the technique!

I love this wall, love the up lighting which just emphasizes the fantastic texture! This look like a poured in place concrete wall which is what inspired our concrete board form tile. If you want to achieve this look you would have to have a wall poured in place and most likely done at time of construction. Wood forms are used to make wall molds and then the concrete is poured into the mold. When the forms are taken off you are left with the beautiful texture and color variation from the wood.

Using a series of wood boards in the forming process allows the wood grain and the widths of the boards to be imprinted into the concrete.
Originally this was an early way to form walls.
It has become an architectural finish to concrete walls, and looks specatular with uplighting
