Bob I agree with you. I have not found any other group as involved as this group. I am not much or good with words but I really like pictures. I have found the best help here and get to see how others progress with different ideas and how they worked.

As for me , being a part of this forum for over 12 years, I think both the men and the women are very kind and very helpful here. That's my opinion. This forum has changed a lot since I have joined, and has been very active. You should see some of the others. On some the same 4 or 5 people post and God forbid you try to become a part of that group. For other forums, they just don't move at all. And others people cringe at the thought of sharing or even have anyone ask to share their plants. Not here though. A very comfortable relaxed atmosphere for the most part with everyone willing to share and not be afraid to talk just about anything , even figs.

A few disagreements and a little lack of appreciation here and there, but for the most part what a great forum. No forum is perfect, but this place is much better than any other. I have also made a ton of long lasting friends here, some posting right here and now.

Bob both my mom and I had no idea why you took offense or got mad. My mom and sister likes you, and she was kidding. You probably took that as in insult and maybe you just didn't get it.? There was no intent to hurt your feelings or disagree with you. heck Al, at one time told me I was a player always complimenting the ladies, kiddingly of course. I took no offense. IF it bothers you that my mom said that say so and I will remove it. Ok

As for me, I gave my opinion and happen to say 'both' the men and women here have done a great job. My opinion is based of 12 years of being here, not just the past year and you asked for our opinions.. Yes, you are right, in the past 'year' the gals have been more company and helpful and great to have around since we have been shorthanded on the guys involvement, but nothing was meant to be anything but in a positive way. I am sorry if you took this personal. I have many times told you how much you are appreciated and have been nothing but kind to you lately, and if not at times that I can't remember, I truly apologize. In fact. most of what I read of what you say I press the 'like' button almost always... But that in itself should be proof that I have nothing to take up with you at all.. If that's not good enough, I don't know what else to say. And as for disagreements, it was NOT directed at you, but just as in general at times here on these forums.

Please, if anyone else here sees anything I have done to hurt anyone's feelings, let me know in messaging or right here. I hope I am as kind as possible for the most part ))

Recently I've found the citrus forum to be full of kind and knowledgeable people and everyone has played an important part here. I've been here for a short period of time and in my opinion, all I've seen is goodness from everyone.

You have always been a gentleman and helpful; I have learned much from you; and you are among the few (many?) who are always welcome in Guatemala. Sometimes people refer to me as an "expert"; but I really only know about one thing (Meyer lemons in ground in tropics); and I come to this forum, not to teach; but to learn. Thanks for your contributions.... unlike mine, which are sometimes meant to further my reputation as a curmudgeon, yours seem to have always been polite. An aside... do you know what happened to "Tantanman"? He was a big help; and will always be a friend of Mayan Meyer lemons; and I would welcome a chance to show our gratitude.

You have apparently been here too short a time to see some of my comments, which are often intended to promote my fame as an international curmudgeon. LOL

With a very few exceptions this has been a very wonderful, educational, friendly forum. I no longer contribute as much as I used to.

I trained Johmerr in is quest to become a world renown curmudgeon.

I have great respect and appreciation for the people in this forum, those who posted above and those who have not chimed in for a long time, but we regularly had discussions on different topics. Great place to be and learn things!

People are enormously helpful here. Would never have known quite how to raise citrus without the generous advice and encouragement extended here. I love the laughs given so freely here. This is a positive and happy place to hang out.

No doubt for me, I've found on this citrus forum a lot of substance. It is a great place to learn either general care techniques or more advanced skills. I come here every day, for a relaxing moment...reading about these trees:)

My citrus and the other plants in my care, are doing well today, and I know it's because of you people sharing your knowledge.

So, yes, there is substance here.

John, I think you are too hard on yourself. I think we can all be like that at time. But to em you are a true statesman, well respected , well like by me, and a " you hear what you get' kind of guy. Truly honest and passionate in many things, especially in growing Meyer Lemons and the great things that can come from them.. So thank you, and thank you for always having my back when deserved. I would love to meet you face to face some day. That would be just great)

My favorite part about this citrus group on gardenweb is how open people are to the different set ups or ways people care for their citrus. It’s very nice to actually feel a sense of boundaries from everyone who offers up their experience or knowledge.

Mike your fish emulsion is a great example of that feeling I get. You always make sure to tell people you’re not trying to claim fish emulsion as The Method for warding away pests. And I’ve noticed you’ll always put out that disclaimer no matter how many times you’ve already shared the fish emulsion with us :) Everyone has been discussing their experiences in that same way and it makes this a really comfortable group to share with!

I too have learned a lot from this forum and have enjoyed the discussions very much (I don't post much, but read a lot of posts). I also enjoy the pictures and seeing how it's everyone helps and encourage each other. This is a Great forum.

I really like this forum. I frequent a few other forums and it seems like this is one of the most active with regards to general container gardening and citrus. I've learned a lot from the people on here.

On that note, I think one of the greatest things about this forum is that it has a real sense of community

I love this forum. I got info here that I couldn't get from a local nursery! I've since gotten a bunch more and learned a ton. Everyone is so very nice as well, even to newbies with what may seem to them like silly questions(like sometimes I have).

This forum is not a click or a small elite group. All are welcome and treated the same. In general with kind spirits and caring attitudes.

It is where I first learned to care for citrus trees too after years of failing, trial and error, bad advice given by my local nurseries, and lack of what kind of trees were out there. I knew nothing of grafting, root stock, and even what a spider mite was. I knew nothing of a good fertilizer and how organics works as well as chemicals.

It is where I have made lasting friendships and met some that would love to have us for a visit.

It is here where I finally learned how to keep a citrus tree alive and HEALTHY right through a winter for the first time, and years after that.

I have learned here more from books and other web sites where information is very conflicting.

We have one theme here, and this is what I love most about this particular forum.

I also know that besides the actual people that take part here, there are countless of others that have yet to come out of the wood work and even post, but are lurkers, that have lots to take away. Many even E-mail and I encourage them to take part.

Great Citrus Forum and it is the ones that take the time to care and enjoy each others company that make it what it is.

I'll add my kudos to the citrus forum and the great folks who make it tick. I have learned just about all I know about citrus here. Hats off to all who make this forum great and hope we all make it through this winter with our citrus trees intact. Some say we should expect another really cold winter so be prepared but you know how forecasts go.

This is a good place of getting information not readily available, and you can search back years on subject matter in needed. While certain concepts are universally accepted (Citrus like good drainage in ground or pots) there is More than one way to skin a cat, and you can get drastically different angles/techniques on Citrus care, that will still work, then decide whats best for you and your specific situation.

I don't post too often on the citrus forum, I haven't been growing them long enough to have much knowledge to share. I just lurk around, soaking up advice from all you citrus growers that are way more knowledgeable than I :-)
