The laminate counter. The drop in sinks. The $1.98 faucets. The baby poo colored wall. The wall to wall cheap mirror. The bad lighting. The rug. The weird location of the medicine cabinet. The lack of knobs and pulls. The lack of color. The overuse of beige.

There are probably other issues, but that is what is visible in the pics. And the vanity is the least of the visible problems.

Yikes. I think your counter is totally fine and the rounded edge if fine with shaker cabinets. But, you really don't need to replace them unless they're not functioning well. The ones you have are good, maybe a fresh coat of paint and definitely add hardware.

If you want to update a few other things (and you don't need to, just sometimes we want new things!) new sink faucets and a lighter paint colour!

although I agree that the cabinets you have look fine, if shaker style is what you really love and want then I would say go ahead! Shakers would look great in that space! I would however consider purchasing some cabinet hardware if you haven't already. If hardware is something you are considering I would check out Century Hardware! Century carries high quality knobs and pulls with almost all of their collection being made from Solid material.

Good design doesn't happen in a bubble Homebody. The OP asks one question, but the answer depends on a lot of other factors. Most of us "pros" give extra advice because we might think of things the homeowner doesn't from our own experience (our PROFESSIONAL experience) and because we hate seeing people spend money on a mistake.

People are not good at seeing their own homes objectively and figuring out what the real problems are. This is a forum and for the most part people try to offer helpful advice. Sometimes good advice has nothing to do questions they ask. Sort of like the elephant in the room.

Thank you all for your responses, honest responses! I sincerely appreciate it. For the record I worked for an interior designer for 4.5 years. That means nothing but thought I would mention it. I have a pretty good sense of design, at least people tell me I do. I've gotten many decorating compliments over the years. I take that lightly and would love some professional training. I so agree it is difficult for many to be objective in their own homes. I know there are other things that need to be done in that guest bath. I would love to fix all of them at once. But that is not how I work/spend I fix the items that bug me the most. I think if some of you were to see these cabinets in person you might go with me on this. However, yes lighting needs to be changed, because its a guest bath it is not bugging me that much. I would like to repaint the walls but the wall paint (unlike the cabinet paint) is pretty fresh so cabinets first. And yes, hate the wall to wall mirror.. thinking about taking it down or framing it. I know "Pros" I should take it down and put up two. And I will get to that. As it turns out the cabinet painter and refacer never sent me the bid so I am now working on landscaping the yard. It's become a bigger issue now that we have a puppy.

PS all my countertops are granite.
