I think I would pick out the light gray of the counter top for the backsplash. I would get a tile that looks like wood or do terracotta color.

what color are the cabinets are they look unfinished ? You can keep the palette natural or bring in color. Knowing the color of the cabinet would be a great help !! Gene

Something like this for the floor? Difficult to suggest tiles though, because we can only judge colours from photos on screen. So you really need to see the different materials next to each other. But just to give you an idea:

i m agre with Barccaro construction glass tile would let you counter to pop up,the only issue with glass counter top not everybody like it if you are planning to sale your house some time in future and it goes out of fashion.
I can t see from your kitchen if its connected to other room or not?I personally like wooden floor for kitchen its easier to clean after while grout in kitchen need to be clean and I some of my client with high traffic kitchen needed to redo the grout after 6-7 years.
i had client who had similar counter top as yours and we had these two option for backsplash

Since your walls are burnt orange, suggest this for bsplash

I have tile on my kitchen floor & I DETEST it (I have no one to blame buy myself, I picked it out). Grout is always dirty. Go w/ hardwood or those really good looking vinyl fake hardwood.

I have tiles on almost the entire downstairs floor and clean the grout with a steam cleaner. Works a treat.

if you have the most area in tile,it would be nice to have your kitchen tiles

You can do
4x4 tumble travertine on a diagonal pattern
Whatever material your using on your countertop (stone)
Cut it down to 1x1 squares than put them in a pattern or random throughout the backsplash as accents.

For the floor do 16x16 or bigger tiles of travertine with a 1/16 joint really tight just enough for the grout
Than buy a good sealer
Stone tech and give it three coats

You should be able to clean it easy after those coats.
That's gonna match any light color cabinet you use.
