How big is this space? What style colors do you like?

There is something pinky-beige about the flooring....or it may just be the photo. Take pictures of the space in the morning, noon, 3 pm and 7 pm and compare them to come up with the true color. Since everything is light in color, I would want to add some deeper color and wood furniture to contrast with all the "pale". Window treatments, area rugs, furniture, cabinetry and art should be in varied tones and colors.
Do you have anything you have bought already or are you just looking for suggestions?

Will TV watching be the main attraction here? If so, start with that and a great credenza on the large wall. Then the easiest most flexible seating would be a 3-seat sofa and a pair of arm or swivel chairs. Looking at the light fixture by the back door, there seems to be very little room for a table and chairs there in the traffic path. Measure carefully and consider having the light moved or just eliminated if you need to use that for your breakfast area. Is there a formal dining room?

Thanks everyone! I would say the total living space is ~700sqft. Regarding style colors, I prefer darker (brown/black/green/grey). I prefer comfort over style, trendy uncomfortable furniture isn't my thing. TV will be the main focus here, looking into a 65in for the wall. Overall I'm just looking for suggestions since I'm new to this. Thanks again

All that space (and the fact that you will be feeding a 6 year old) calls for a big island with bar stools. In front of the big widow, I’d set up a nice working table that could dual purpose as a council and a homework, coloring, area. Need durable for those cars and legos too. You have a great place to work with. Fun project!

I think islands are great, but I would suggest you go old school and get a kitchen table for the center of the kitchen. Something understated, simple and durable. A six year old could have trouble climbing onto the stools and once he got there he might not feel too secure. The kitchen table, in my opinion is more conducive to family time. Plus, it'll be a good spot for homework and projects when that time comes.

Since your getting a large TV, I also want to suggest that you make sure that the media cabinet you place beneath it is correctly sized. Generally, you want the cabinet to be about 25% wider than the TV.

How you like to watch TV (in sofa or chair) should be considered in placing your furniture.

Nice house and you can put your personal style on the decor. Figure out how big a rug you need for the tv area, and that will help you choose seating that will be the right size. What looks right in warehouse-size furniture store is often too big for the room. Will you nap on sofa? If yes, then don’t get a love seat. Do you want a L shaped sectional for stretching out instead of propping your legs up on coffee table? Some are made so you can switch the chaise to the left or right side. If you play video games, you may prefer the sectional in second pic that has an end with no arm rests so it doesn’t interfere with gaming. Would you prefer to watch TV in a stressless chair with ottoman? Or reclining arm chair?

Best tv watching is at 8-10’. So the size of room and how far away you can put the seating will determine the max size of your big screen tv.

Are you wiring tv speakers in the ceiling and/or walls?

I have found leather and microfiber to look great on seating, even with daily kid use. Try to avoid all seating being only leather or all the same fabric...mix and match it.

If you want a coffee table, make sure it is the right size for your seating (18” away from seats so don’t bump knees). This wood top and iron legs round table wouldn’t weigh down the room.

Or a steamer trunk as a coffee table if you are a traveler type. One that opens can hide toys.

Or forego the coffee table, and place non-matching end tables (for collected over time look) within reach. Make sure each is the right height for the seat arm (same height as seat arm or just a bit shorter). Some ideas below.

On wall that forms coat closet, you will find it handy to have a narrow entry way table for keys, loose change, and mail.

For area rug size, either big enough for all furniture in the grouping to be completely on it, or at least the 2 front legs of all seats and all of the tables.

Another consideration when choosing tv size, rug size, and seating, allow 36” wide pathway behind seating area to walk from front door (around entryway table) to kitchen.

For 65” tv, your viewing spot should be at least 8’ away, and allow for another 36” walking path behind it. Hope your room is wide enough for straight on viewing. If not enough room to see tv straight ahead, then put seat at an angle and get tv bracket that swivels towards your seat.

They say to set up furniture arrangement, then size of rug can be determined. I'm checking for colors - with white kitchen and neutral rest of space, blue can be good.... ?? This has 200 good reviews - bohemian vibe, 100% Nylon.
