I would be more inclined to let them go dormant, give them 4 months and then bring them in and start them into growth under lights.

I've tried keeping one or two smaller seedlings under lights through the dormancy period.

They all weakened and died when I put them back outside once conditions were favourable.

if you want to play with hosta indoors .... start setting up the indoor seed growing setup ... and get those going ...

besides.. they are not your babies ... they are hosta.. throw them on the driveway for winter ...

seriously ... kill some seedlings this winter ... trying to perfect indoor growing ... and when you get all that going.. and a few years practice.. then think about expanding to forcing seedlings to bloom early ....

now.. that said ... if you have a few spares .. pot them up ... store the pots somewhere where you can get at them 6 weeks after they go dormant .... and then bring them in jan/feb ... and see if you can do that ... perhaps some plain green ones.. for the experiment ...

also figure out how to make sure you arent bringing in overwintering bugs in the pots .. NOTHING is worse than a mid winter bug infestation .. which reminds me... sterilize all your indoor potting media ... including pots and tools.. before you start.. its much easier to avoid a problem.. than fix it ... you might bring them in.. isolate them ... and then repot into 'clean media' ....

ps: the ONLY reason to force streakers to early flower.. is that you have some specific hybridization/genetic goal you're trying to get to ..... so that you might force two generations for faster crossing and recrossing.. to get to that specific goal ... short of said goal ... i dont know why you would want to mess with all this .... EXCEPT because you can.. and you will enjoy the experiment .. and the knowledge learned .... dont let me get in the way of any mad scientist stuff ... lol

My buddies tomato hybridizes did paired up and grow one set in Canada and second selection in Florida so some really good tomatoes coming twice as fast this way.
