Finding an Interior Designer

We are doing some remodeling and I am looking for help with choosing wood floors, paint colors, lighting, and room layout. What is the best way to find an interior designer who can help with this project? (I did contact a few on Houzz but never received responses.)

If you've not been successful here, the best way would be to ask family, friends, church members, coworkers, etc. if they have used someone they would recommend.
