With no size given hard to tell if it was for a dish or tray insert. I think probably a dish and it is not that old unless the gilding has worn off..

Yes, lindac92 I thought it was pretty too, but $40 is pretty steep considering a major component is missing and like you said good luck finding another.

I'd offer quite a bit less $, if you love it, and look for something to fit inside. I would probably use it for flowers or fruit, so I don't think the innards would have to be an exact match/fit as the displayed items would probably cover any misfit.

Speaking as someone who would bring him strays like the above thinking that I could make them work in some way, my advice is to not bring it home.

You are never going to find anything that fits as it was obviously intended as a holder for something that broke. If you were particularly motivated, I guess you could get glass cut out to fit but really - what purpose would it serve with the glass.

It's way overpriced for something missing an essential component since it doesn't even work particularly well as a decorative item with the obviously missing piece.

Helen I agree. It is way to pricey for a project and project it would be to shlepp it all over town looking for something that fit inside.
