Master Room Entrance Advise

Need advise on our master room entrance. The room entrance is right off the living room. We added a frame to avoid having a flat entrance/wall and give a sense of some privacy, I had the idea from a picture I found in Houzz (green wall picture). I included pictures of how so far the entrance looks but I am not sure if I like it ....but still want to add something. We’ll put a new door as well. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas or suggestions. Thanks!

We also have our bedroom right off the living room. We don’t have any issues with privacy, and frankly, don’t even notice it most of the time. Remove the box, frame the door as usual, and call it a day.

I’m not sure I like the solution, but I don’t have any ideas either. The inspiration pic looks like it might have something to do with Hvac rather than privacy. Can you post the layout so we can see the space?

The more I look at your picture the more I don’t like this solution. The inspiration pic is much deeper and substantial. What’s between the left wall and window? I think you’ll be better off removing it.

I don't think I like it either, it hasn't added anything attractive, rather the opposite. How about a pair of double doors maybe? Or a small passageway going towards the inside bedroom if you have enough space for it.

HI -- To me it does not look right and it makes odd angles with the ceiling . It is also making a problem for window coverings and does not match door and window heights . What service is it doing anyway ? Kind of like a phone booth in a corner . For me it is a "no" . Just have a nice door with some proper trim around , perhaps a door with some frosted glass inserts . If this house is just being built then why does the door have to be in that location so close into a corner ? I say moving the door would maybe be the smarter thing to do .

Can you not move the door to the other end of the wall?

As mentioned above, I think a short entry hall would be better to create a sense of privacy.

the framing emphasizes something you’re trying to downplay. I’d remove it. We solved a similar situation by adding some bookcases to the flat wall. Then all eyes were on the pretty arrangements on the bookcases. If you don’t have that kind of room, just a pretty arrangement of artwork and a functional table on the flat wall would call attention to themselves & not the door to the bedroom.

You might try eliminating the wing wall next to the window and blend the header into that wall. Then make the header longer to the right and put the wing wall down right side only.

Everything you have added only makes that corner look worse. I would remove it all. Add draperies on the window. Consider the hidden doorway bookcase idea....a nice bookcase that is really the door to the master bedroom.

It is a total distraction. It should be removed. My eye was drawn to that odd protrusion, only noticing the fireplace and the beautiful long windows as out of place. It looks out of place and doesn’t complement your style.

I too feel you are over thinking this.....I see no problem with the original plan.

Thanks for everyones input, I agree with the comments, here are some additional pictures to give you an idea of the overall look. I would love to add a small passageway, the room is square so wondering how it would look and would it take too much space? Or should I move the entrance more to the right? here are some additional pictures from inside the room. Please keep sending your input and suggestions, thanks you?

It looks like a clumsy add-on, crowding the window. The door would be less obtrusive without all the unneeded detail calling attention to it.

What about moving the door so you could have a wall across from the door. A couple of feet winder than the door. Hang a nice piece of art on that wall so you could not see into the room. It would be ideal if you could build a small hall passage way but the bedroom window will not allow that but would be the same concept as the wall.

HI -- Looking at the inside of that bedroom I think centering the entrance door would work better . Why not make the centered door a show piece by putting in an antique door of some sort ,maybe even a double to make it a grand entrance . Can you post the drawing of that area of the house ...please . Thx
