@Lil S. There is room, and it's not a matter of needing more bar stools and more that I want to create a space that looks really good, and that I am excited about.

If you really will use more than one, I'd look for one or two with a round seat, similar legs but no back. Since no one will likely be sitting at the bar for extended periods, backless (while not ideal) would probably be fine. And they won't compete with the backs of the dining chairs. You might find some on craigslist and could get similar colored fabric for the seats (probably not suede, but maybe ultrasuede or microfiber close in color). These might not be tall enough; can't tell.

You don’t necessarily need matching bar stools. I’ve seen some great kitchens where the chairs or stools are mismatched, coordinating but not all the same. Maybe you can scout thrift stores or other stores and get yourself two more chairs of the same height that would make a nice eclectic/collected set. I’d go for 3 altogether, each one different.

if you werent planning on sitting at the counter, put it someplace else. if you were, buy 2 or more backless. anything else would look odd with your back-stylish chairs.

I don’t like it there. It doesn’t go with your chairs and looks out of place. A backless bar stool woul be better if you had to have one, but it will start to look cramped if you add more, I think.

Honestly, it looks like a good place for it. I think you'll see, in time, that it's a special piece to add to your decor. On the other hand, I have a fake old wall phone I could send you? :)
