This issue of haze and splotches on quartz has come up a number of times on this forum, and not just MSI quartz. Here are a couple threads from a quick search, but you could find more to read on this topic if you do a search.

That sealer shouldn't have been put on a quartz material.

But I believe the white specs you are referring to are the "sparkly" fleck within the actual stone.

That is just part of the design.

The white spots are not the sparkly flecks. They are dull spots all over. Some much bigger than others. I have read th other posts before posting. But those weren’t brand new unused countertops. Could the sealant be the Issue?

Contact the fabricator for a scrap from your material. Check it for spots and then seal it. See what happens.

You don’t seal quartz. Whose idea was that?

Dark counters are like a black car. They always show water spots and dust. You have to always wipe them dry with a microfiber cloth.

Kristin, the installers installed it, cleaned it and sealed it. After that they were pretty much covered to protect it while we’re finishing everything.

Sophie, I have a black car, and yes you can see dust and fingerprints. But, they are very easily removed. These are not removable. Granted, we’ve only tried water and windex so the installer would not say it was something we did to it.

The sealer is not the issue, guaranteed. You can seal quartz, just not with that stuff. Tenax makes Quartz Toner for this specific application. If the Italians made peanut butter to apply to countertops, I'd use it; they've kinda been at the stone thing for thousands of years.

Those spots are some sort of damage, or they are inherent in the material and supposed to be there although their being "dull" is throwing me. I'm betting on the latter.

The second pic next to sink looks like something square was laying there and the dull area is happening around it. Is that a trick of the photo or real? It's really hard to see with the reflection of the backsplash.

According to your care and maintenance guide, sealers won't penetrate the surface and when it starts to wear off the polish will start to look inconsistent. I'd be talking to the installers.

There was nothing laying there, so not really sure what you mean. The countertops were just covered completely for protection while finishing up.

If thise spots pots are supposed to be there, you would th8nk the entire countertop would look just like that, but it doesn’. Some of those “lighter areas” are much larger in other areas. Installers are coming today to look at it and we’ll see what they say. When I went to MSI, their Entire counter was this stone and it was perfect., no reason why ours should be different. I’ve done some research on the Stone Shield, doesnt say anywhere that you can use on quartz.

It says right on the bottle it's for natural stone. Quartz is not natural stone. I cannot believe the installers did not know this.

Did the installers mess up?
