@sam smith - you didn’t specify if you are just talking about kitchen appliances. Since this 2-year-old thread you resurrected is about ranges, I’ll assume you are. Off the top of my head, appliances made in the U.S. are Bluestar, Capital, GE, the Whirlpool family of companies, Wolf/Subzero, Viking, Speed Queen (though that is laundry not kitchen appliances). Bosch/Thermador has factories in NC and TN though not all their appliances are made in the U.S. Similarly Electrolux has 4 factories in the U.S. and makes many though not all their appliances there. Then there are the brands that sell in the North American market with manufacturing in Europe (since your comment was about made in Asia) - Miele, Liebherr, Blomberg, Ilve, Asko, Smeg, some Bosch/Thermado/Gaggenau.

@sam smith, ever hear of Wolf/SubZero? All of their products are made in the US. The SubZero factory is in Wisconsin.

What about Miele? All Miele products are manufactured in Germany.

And…”Thermador ranges, ovens, and select dishwashers are made in BSH's United States-based factories in North Carolina and Tennessee. Since BSH is based in Germany, Thermador's top-of-the-line dishwashers are made there. Thermador refrigerators are made in Europe as well.”

What was your purpose of resurrecting this old thread…esp as you added nothing knowledgable to it?

It was a flippant comment about how much of all of the things we own today are made in Asia. Even if they aren’t assmebled in the US, many parts come from Asia or other countries. My reason for resurrecting was that in researching ranges, I saw these comments about where the items are made, like it makes a differnce. You can find just as much crap and just as much quality from US manufacturers as you can Asian or other countries. And to those big “US manufactured” appliance fans, Viking lost a heafty lawsuit a handful of years ago for not reporting that they were aware of almost 200 cases of gas ranges turning on by themselves! GE is a Chinese run business and sources a lot from other countries.

Resurrecting this… i am looking at a few 36in gas range for my kitchen remodel and after a bit of reading, most if not all premium branda have issues - bluestar, wolf, viking, thermador, etc. For the money one spends, value may not be there. In any case, here i am womdering between Zline and Knucht. Any suggestions on which ones have worked out best for you? And if you had issues, how was their customer service? Thank you!

I've had a 48" dual-fuel Zline range in my previous kitchen and was very happy with it. For my current house which I'm remodeling at the moment, I've purchased the 36" dual-fuel Zline range and hope to be similarly happy :)

Note this is dual fuel (RA-36), i.e. gas cooktop/electric stove - not a gas cooktop+stove (RG-36), which I believe has had a recall (there are probably a lot of feedback on that on Houzz as well).

If customer service, and longevity of existance, with a stellar track record is your desire, then Wolf/SubZero is THE route to go. If you are not quite in that price level, then Bosch or Kitchenaid.

Bought a 36" gas Kucht range three years ago and it has needed to be repaired every year since. At first, they sent techs to do the work. Now, they want you to do it yourself (or with one of their techs over a video call).

To be honest, I don't hate learning how to make the repairs - it's kind of interesting, actually. And it's still under the initial five year warranty which was the thing that sold me on Kiucht to begin with.

But I'm worried about what happens when that warranty expires, and what the cost of maintaining it will be.

All things considered, I probably wouldn't buy it a second time.

We bought a 36" gas range from Kucht three years ago and it has needed repair every year since (starting immediately after installation).

Kucht used to send a tech to make the repairs, but now asks you to make the repairs yourself with the guidance of their tech via video call if needed. Alternatively, you can wait several weeks for a tech to come to your home.

Inconsistent temperature control is always the precursor to a part failure in our case.

To be honest, I don't hate making the repairs - it's actually kind of intersting. And the range is still under the full, five-year warranty which was what drew me to Kucht in the first place.

But I worry about the cost of maintaining the range after the warranty expires. I think we can assume that we'll continue to have issues and need to be prepared to pay for parts (and maybe labor) for the life of the range.

All things considered, I wouldn't buy a Kucht next time around.

I am rethinking if i should just go with a gas cooktop and a wall oven underneath. Costs might be a bit different but might be a safer bet. Although I don't see very many good 6 burner cooktops! Appreciate any thoughts on good gas cooktops.

If I decide to stick with a freestanding gas range, I am leaning towards the 36in Wolf.
