I like a round table, and a 60-inch can comfortably seat 6 people. If you need to seat more, get a table with leaves that opens to an oval.

What kind of chandelier do you have? That might influence round or square decision.

As two adults with two children, we found a 56" diameter round dining table very awkward. Four adult sized persons might be more comfortable, though.

You have the perfect space for a gorgeous round table. I agree with Mid America and look for a pedestal style table.

I have a 60” pedestal round table with 2 leaves. I love the flexibility it gives me. I can have as few as four and up to 8 very comfortably. I also like that we can all converse together more easily as a group.

A 60” table seats 8 very comfortably in your space you could get one that has a leaf if 10 is a usual number for dinner party. That is a good sized room so choose a nice buffet for one wall too and areally fab chandelier

If you are using plastic folding chairs then you can fit 8, but if you have normal sized and more comfortable dining chairs, then I very much doubt you can.

I have a 60" round pedestal table in my kitchen. I have very comfortable dining chairs and I can fit 6 (six) chairs comfortably. If needed I can squeeze in a 7th chair.

Go to a furniture store and test out different chairs around a 60" table.

I would do a rectangular dining table. I do not like square tables. And I think round tables are best in breakfast nooks, not dining rooms.
