We are currently remodeling the kitchen in our new home. We are puzzled on what tile to choose given that we have chosen two extreme colours for our counters and our island, and the fact there is a transition from kitchen to living room. There is a step down from right after the kitchen table into the living room. We are considering keeping the hardwood now in the kitchen but this is a novel idea for the two of us as we grew up with tile and really like it. Regardless, right behind where the photographer is in this picture there is a laundry room/mudroom hallway with tile that we are replacing. We can either run this tile through the kitchen to the living room transition or end at the kitchen. Either way we need a tile choice to match. We will also be restaining all of the hardwood as it runs through the entire house. Option 1: Our preference, tile in mudroom/laundry hallway all the way to transition in the living room (Need tile colour +stain for rest of hardwood in living room and house) Option 2: Keep hardwood, stain entire kitchen/living room/entry way one colour and choose a tile for mudroom/laundry area.

This is not a picture of our home/kitchen but we will be doing a custom island and custom range hood, matching in the same barnwood style. The 3 slab colours are below, we chose two of them. The white is more of a grayish white and the dark brown colour (top one) is definitely lighter then it looks in this picture. The whole kitchen will be that greyish white with a bright white quartz with grey veining. The island and range hood will be in the brown (It has some beige and grey, too).
