Yes, Even just 1.5 hours north, I have a harder time with the Bamboo Muhly freezing back on bad winters.,. I think there is a 5º difference in lows and their cold fronts last a day less than here on average. It makes all the difference. It comes back every year better and better and does well without irrigation but it is a different critter. Cold front last year froze them back to the ground and I think it will happen again this year too after hearing the weather predictions.

Reminds me, I need to go to a spot and do some collecting myself before it gets too late. This year has been off in several ways and so wet that I'm not getting things done and I've lost all sense of focus on gardening. My grasses are all so overgrown this year they are either too big or flopping in a very unattractive way. I feel downright overwhelmed.

The seep muhly is quite spectacular in a swath! I like it in front of the white grass and even better, it looks like you caught it on a windy day. I love seeing swaths of grass in the wind like that.

Yea its wet. It keeps raining and raining. They got a foot of rain to the west and up river from here. Bridges are being taken down.The South Llano River is hitting its all-time high mark. My neighbor can't get to my house to pick up some work.

I realize this is an old thread that I’m reviving, but I am trying to find someone who has seeds for Muhlenbergia Dumosa, (Bamboo Muhly). Since it’s autumn just now, I’m hopeful that one of the members of this forum might have some of these lovely grasses in full head. I will gladly pay for the seeds and whatever shipping expenses are involved. Anyone?

I have a stand of 20 Bamboo muhly, They do not make many seeds. I do not think that I have had a volunteer ever in years and years. My stand is still getting over the big freeze and our extreme drought this year. I do not see any inflorecens.I will keep my eyes on it.
