Lighting in a Loft

Hey Gang! You are all so knowledgeable and helpful I will put this situation - sadly no photos because I still cannot figure out how to download them.

1. I live in a loft and the ceilings are fairly high 14.5 feet; it doesn't have much lights and I like lights.

2. The living room has enough lights when all the floor lamps are on but I want the basics. I would love to do a large modern art piece/chandelier in the middle but costs may be prohibitive AND it would need an A ladder. Well, I don't have a big truck or SUV and apparently it will add a couple of hundred dollars to the install.

Option 2 is forget the feature light and get an extension ladder which can fold up and put lights along the wall. There is one wall left and there is a family heir loom painting. The light must come low enough that on aregular 9 foot ladder I can change light bulbs even though it is LED. I thought of draping the picture with two pendants but that doesn't work well because there isn't much room on one side of the painting. If I have too "big" of a fixture and it comes down it may block the picture. SO I am trying to find a fixture with several drop pendants or a drop tracking light that could go to the top of the painting. I am even thinking two unless I can find a fixture that has 8 heads? Ideas people? I would like this on a switch not as a floor lamp.
