What is the space between the shelf and the seat? Is there space for baskets that are 10" tall? As in the other shoe storage question, the shelf can be lowered to accommodate baskets?

Shelf space from the top of the shelf to the bottom of the apron in 9 1/4". The shelf is attached with screws so it could be lowered as needed.
