You could put a can up light behind your plant. I might also consider a taller table in the far corner where the picture is sitting on the floor and maybe cluster a couple of lamps there?

There are several ways to brighten up a dark room: with white wall paint, uncovered windows or by adding more light sources. What windows do you have in the living room (exposure, blinds or curtains)? Also, are there only the two lamps in the room? If so, you need to add more. If you showed more pictures of the room, especially in daytime, that would help.

Try moving floor lamp to other side of sofa and add taller table lamp to that end table. Is their a ceiling light? Bring in ceiling light if you have junction box there. Put a tower light in corner opposite the plant. Bbl with photo.
