They will probably make it. But I'd re-examine my watering practices if I were you. If a soaker hose is working as intended, it will take longer than 30 minutes for the water to penetrate the soil profile fully (unless a very sandy soil). I would dig down alongside one of the rootballs and confirm the soil is moist all the way down to the base. If not, you want to up your watering duration sufficiently to make sure that happens.

And that is a very close spacing for Green Giants. These are not columnar arborvitaes but develop a wide base (15-25') in a pyramidal shape. The standard spacing for these is 8-10 feet for a solid hedge and even wider for a standard privacy screen.

Whoever told you that was misinformed....unless these are not GG's but something like Emerald Green ('Smaragd') arborvitaes. Two entirely different trees with distinctly different sizing. Yes - if in fact Green Giants - too close.

I stand corrected by my husband these are emerald green arborvitaes not green giants!

OK then.......spacing is fine for Emerald Greens!! That is a much skinnier tree, even when fully mature!!
