You said "replace doors", so the only concern is the face frame cut outs. We have done numerous kitchen makeovers and to address this, we preferred to fill the voids with Bondo. Yes - from Autozone or someplace. It worked the best in terms of not shrinking and not moving once cured. The new hinges will mount to the thinner side edge of the face frame, so if a screw where to line up with the patch, Bondo will hold a screw. Just don't over tighten it. Bondo sets up fairly hard, so try to shape it as much as you can while it is malleable.

Thanks good to know there is a filler that can be screwed into. What a stunning change of your before and after.

Could you do the bondo on the doors and reverse them to have a more updated look? Or would that bondo not go smoothly with the wood on the current backside with the double demountable hinges?

Did you just paint them or what?
