The buffet looks too small for the space, chunky and a bit traditional in comparison to the rest of the decor.

Great lines and function in that piece. Does it come in a color or finish--could be neutral white--that goes with your space and existing furniture? It's a departure from the style of your room. Anything new should connect in some way with your existing furniture, finishes, colors, and style so you don't get a mish mash. Contrast is more than okay, but make sure every piece relates to its "neighbors." That's how to pull off eclectic rooms

In the meantime, a lamp on the existing sideboard, minus one of your items would light up that side of the room and your art work. Here's an example of what would work because it echoes your rug, wall, and art work. Check measurements of whatever you get. You don't want something that will block your art but just add a glow to that wall.

If you are looking to style the buffet "for now" until you get a new piece - I think you need some varying heights. I tend to be asymmetrical - so I would do short and tall.

Here's an article about bringing home a new "friend" to the furniture neighborhood and how to get neighboring furniture to relate to each other:

LET FURNITURE HAVE FRIENDS: Give each piece at least one companion who shares a color, style, or finish; you don't want any single, solitary pieces of decor hanging out by their little lonesome. That poor piece of furniture needs a friend, lest it look and feel like the odd man out.

I would move the bikes out of the dining room as well as the items on either side of the buffet. If you are going to put time and effort into styling the room, these things need to be put somewhere else. Housegal is right, less is more.

looks to me like you need an actual beverage center to hold the wine fridge, wine bottles, etc.

what's to the left of buffet?

or, on the wall across from table where tall unit is, could you do a beverage center there?

right now the buffet is too small and too jammed w/wine fridge and wine rack those need to have their own space somewhere. Whats under all the photographs off to the right?

(btw I have that same rug)

if you did this instead of the buffet, how would that work? you'd move the picture elsewhere.
