It can be overwhelming for some people, others are great on their own. A good decorator will try to help you define your style and make recommendations based on the space, your taste, your lifestyle etc. You may even consider a floor plan for the house so that when you go to purchase furniture etc. you know what size and configuration you need. This will help steer your towards a cohesive well planned space when you are done, whether it be in a month or three or four years or more down the road.
