Ample SQFT, how to make it functional?

Fellow Houzzers, I need help figuring out how to use these three spaces adjacent to each other.
We moved into our split entry last December, and we still can’t figure out furniture placements for our living area.
Here is what makes the areas awkward (A) ...

A1 - (9x7.75) top landing area with living room to the left and bedroom/bath hallway to the right, Awkward2 straight ahead. Unfurnished, undecorated. Can I use it any other way than just a breeze thru? Otherwise, decorate just so it is not screamingly bare!

A2 - (10x12) cross section between kitchen (right), living room (A3) and stair landing (A1) Too small to make it an eat-in area, also because it is a passageway to dining room. I wish I could somehow figure out a way to make it an eat in area for four. Currently just the kids eat siting on counter stools at the peninsula, easier and quicker for everyday meals than the dining room.

A3 - (11x12)I think it was supposed to be a dining room but it is too small to fit an ‘acceptable’ dining table and still have room behind chairs and things. Mostly because of the archway to A2. I put my tulip table to see if that would work but the ugly chandelier is off center from arch as well as center of window, it ended up looking somewhat out of place. Since I have a bigger dining room, I was thinking what else can you use such a space for?

I hope all of this makes sense. All suggestions welcome. Thanks.
