Since you don't have a fireplace the TV wall is the focal point. A gallery wall would look great, and the important part of that is to find pictures that mean something to you rather than what anyone would suggest here. Buy what you love (look on e-bay for paintings offered by artists, which are less expensive), and lay everything out on the floor to find the best design for your wall space. A table lamp should go by the couch on either end. There's not much use in having floor lamps against the walls; you need lighting where you're sitting. The living room is not the place to store your shoes and those small cases need to go elsewhere. They add nothing to the room. Your carpet is much too small, you need one that goes under the couch and chair at least part of the way, and one that covers most of the floor area will look best. Find one that looks better with the warm color of the floor, i.e. not something gray. A tribal Oriental would be a good choice; they have polypropylene rugs that cost a lot less than wool and still look good. Try esale or rugsUSA for lots of choices. This room needs lots of wall art, books and plants to give it personality and life. Don't think about what's in or trendy but rather what makes you feel good to be in that space. Your sofa and chairs are a good start, they're very nice. Pile some books on the bottom of your coffee table and on top and put a large plant near the window by the TV and get a new rug and you'll be halfway there to a wonderful room. Art on the walls will do the rest.
