Neem alone works just fine with an emulsifier. .

Fish emulsion is not a proven method to kill pests, but for my plants yes, but that is with consistency all summer long.

I keep my orchids that need chill requirements outside dry and for as long as I can, until a hard frost will kill them. I bring them in when I am aware of that. Too be exact, I keep them outside until the mid 30's strikes a anytime, and bring them back out as soon as it warms again, until I get tired of bringing them in and out.

Too, I also cover some as I get home from work to keep them from getting frost harm with blankets or a tarp and uncover when the temps goes higher than the freezing mark.

the key is to keep them dry. I cover mine with a tarp when I know it going to rain or keep them under an eave or something other to protect them from getting wet. Very cold and wet will kill them in a heart beat. And if you water, it will prevent bloom on some even if the weather is warmer.

Thank you, myermike for your in depth reply. I wanted the neem for any scale that might be there, and the FE for fertilizing. I ended up only applying the neem. Mike, do you have a photo of how you cover your orchids with a tarp or blanket? I'm sorry for such a silly question, but if I do that, the long stems will break. If you keep yours outside with mid 30 temps, then I shouldn't worry as tonight it's supposed to go down to 38 degrees. Again, thanks.
