Agree with katekingg..I'd lose the black leather and add two stylish swivel accent chairs. An area rug and coffee table and tada!

I'd consider painting the back wall (the one with the painting) a darker accent color. I agree with replacing the dark leather couch for accent chairs. Could you take a picture of the wall that the L-couch is facing?

Definitely lose the leather sofa. Move the sectional to the other corner. Definitely a rug. Make sure it's big enough so the front feet of all your seating is on the rug. LOVE the art! Unless you entertain a lot of people or have a large family, 1 chair and a round coffee table should be sufficient. For a toddler, an ottomon with a flat top would work well, with storage inside. Perfect decor for one of those arched floor lamps with a globe at the end.

This is the light I had in mind. It would fit at the corner of the sofa and arch over -- no toddler issues! Thanks for the info.

Defo remove black leather couch if you can. The wall you get a tiny glimpse of to the left of the photo, is that a brick wall all across? If so I wouldn't paint wall with pic on it as a feature. I'd take pic down, put in some neutral, fairly light/billowy curtains and replace that plant with a light similar to previous poster mentioned. Rug and coffee table (chunky wooden or something a little unusual) would be nice if you have the space with the toddler stuff.
