Hmmm. I wouldn’t use anything that sticks to the shelves so this warning is another reason why. I use the rubbery liner (similar in non slip for under rugs) - looks good, easy to use.

With new cabinetry, there is virtually NO need for shelf liner. If you must do it in cabinetry with gooey bottles? Use darn waxed paper and change it OUT. Or store the gooey stuff in plastic bins.

The shelves in cabinets, especially clear coated maple, are wipeable. Very.

I stopped using shelf liner decades ago! When I stopped renting and bought my own home. I definitely would not put something that dated into a brand new kitchen.

Thank you so much for letting us know!

I haven't used shelf liner in years either. As Jan said I have one shelf lined with wax paper. That shelf holds my favorite heavy rough bottom mixing bowls.

I put honey on a take-out lid. no shelves lined with anything. drawers I can see, but dividers can help there too.

I line the under the sink area with an inexpensive door mat that can go in the laundry.

For shelves that may get dirty or marked by food containers and canned goods I get inexpensive thin plastic placemats. Shelves for dinnerware get not liner. Ihave been in my house 19 years and my cupboard shelves look brand new, a bonus when I get ready to sell.

I painted the pantry shelves in my vintage kitchen, and did notice that cans, etc tend to stick to the paint and leave marks, so I use a layer of parchment paper or wax paper under the shelf liner. The rubbery shelf liner can also be washed in the machine.

I also use the pebbly plastic liners in my drawers since all my dishes, flatware , glasses and pots and pans are all in drawers. Do not use stick on liner anywhere and really as mentioned in a new kitchen no need for it at all.

i failed to be clear. This warning was found on the non-adhesive pebbly and webbed shelf liner. Interestingly, some liners are removable and domy have this warning. Take note when you're out shopping.

Todays wood finishes are catalyzed urethane. I could be wrong but catalization aids the drying process. Just an FYI to a group of knowledgeable and experience people who have helped me tremendously in my remodeling and decorating travels.
