drape drama wanted

What color drapes? Gray leather sofa and chair. Gray rug with tiny bits of teal. Gray walls(pussywillow ) and white casings on window. White feels too safe. Attached photos of two favorites.

Area rug and pillow in room. If it helps or changes vote for white

Just be sure the white matches the white you have in the space...the rugs look more ivory so Use ivory drapes.....can you do a full shot of your room with the rug?

This lamp would look great but pricey!

This is budget friendly and would be a great substitute for the Curry and Company lamp..

Thank you for budget friendly lamp I love it

The drama comes from the windows themselves, not the curtains. Art and rugs will be much more important to this room than curtains, which should just provide background to all the light coming in.

Room messy! Work in progress! New tv wall

Not a pro and wondering if this is the best way to hang drapes on your windows? Looks choppy to me.

There is nice ivory/off-white color in your rug. I would pic it for drapes. Or any light color from rug.

Photoshop photos with white or ivory are nice. Custom size, I just wanted something dramatic for cost I think.
132 inch panels for arch window is the smallest possible size. 144 works as well but above that the peak of room gets in way
  • 8 years ago

The drapes seem too "fussy" for the furnishings in the room, and really chop up that wall. Have you considered blinds? They would be a good complement to the rest of the space.

I like the white, but the rod arrangement looks very awkward to me. I think I'd either skip draperies on the french doors or do something like this:

Looks like you have been working hard getting this room together...the lamps will look beautiful...is the coffee table new? Can it be changed out? A square or round would be much better for your space....pull the loveseat closer to the sofa to make a L shape and the end table should fit into the square space they have created....

I am concerned about the drapery placement...can you post image of that window wall without any mock up of drapes.:)

I think the white drapes add a nice contrast to the room. You could add colorful pillows to the couch. But I like the room.
The coffee table is not new and I’ve thought of removing.
I have two sofas and one recliner. The sofas each have 1 and 1/2 size recliners(two per sofa). In order to use them in recline you can not put them in a tight L formation as the recliners then obstruct each other. The sofas and recliner are new which is what started change in rugs, paint and new tv wall.

The blinds are coming down. The room needs coverage on all windows in order to use tv without glare. The windows are higher then door and drapery rod would encroach on framing of upper arch.
A rod above arch will not extend our to cover windows because of peak to wall.
The wood blinds are being removed once new coverage found and put in place. The door has really lame mini blinds built in the glass. I’ve never seen acceptable blinds for arch

you need to have a custom white slat shutter made for the top arch....you can open and close it with a hook pole that is included...or they have avslat shutter that stayed open at a 45 degree angle that may be enough to stop the glare..it is more budget friendly option...check your local Home Depot or Lowe’s....than I would only add white drapes on outer side of each window...use a white or ivory heavy linen..it will look very pretty.

I would remove the coffee table and just get nice size end tables all around...that way the recliners are free to open and enjoy.

I will get rid of coffee table. I used . to build jigsaw puzzles on it. Otherwise I always thought it was in the way. I love my rug and more of it will show. I have looked at the shutters and hate them. I’m thinking of putting tinting film on arch to make it not so stark of light

Honestly a film will make it look Smokey..I really don’t think you will like it...the white shutter will blend really nice with your drapes...think about it....

oh i love doing puzzles:) my kids are in there 30’s and when they come to visit we do puzzles and play cards..just love it!

I ordered almost white and hated them. I think I like color more then most people do.
I wish I could buy multiple things and see them before. I have no idea what something will look like. In hindsight I would have bought store bought drapes in multiple colors to try before ordering custom length and width. Many drapes came in 120 inches. I then would of had better chance of getting exactly what I loved the most.
The are described as cotton silk? Tapestry Teal Cotton Silk Curtain.
They are functional for light control, some insulation and easy to open and close. We hardly ever use door but I like sunlight most of the time.

To lighten the look a bit I would consider adding a neutral leading edge trim...I do think a linen fabric lined would have been a better choice but can’t change that now so...any tailor can add it for you..or if you own a sewing machine is such a easy project...do you have a long rod wand attached to help open and close them?

Carol Sievers thanked Home Interiors with Ease
  • 7 years ago
Where do you get the long wands?
I’ve just been pulling on drapes. They move easily with rings but was worrying about fabric and hands.
Do you have photo or example of trim
    ?

    ordered wands!

Do you advise the trim along the front edge of all four drape panels?

I feel as if you need more teal near the floor...

How about layering a smaller, more solid, teal rug over your existing? I would angle it though...

    Or a large teal ottoman??

I really feel you need to bring more of that color down...

I used to have the furniture floated in center of room. It is a big enough room to not anchor furniture to wall. The rug is 10x 13.
I’ve never tried angling furniture. I moved furniture to wall because my husband insisted on lazy boy recliners that are electronic and thus plug into outlets.

Yes leading edge of each panel....how wide is each panel? they seem to wide...you might think about making them a bit smaller in width so that they don’t cover so much window..because of the type of fabric they billow a bit to much...did you order them from custom halfpricedrapes?

Yes and I purposely ordered 75 wide each so they were not skimpy
  • 7 years ago
I was hoping getting my husband to remove wood color blinds that are above side windows would help with billowing
  • 7 years ago
    last modified: 7 years ago

They look fine. Not too billowy at all...

If you want them a bit easier to close, you can attach one panel to the other (if your rings have clips, then you overlap the panels and use one clip. If sew on, you can add a couple of stitches to keep the two panels together). Then you'll just have one drape on each side to pull over.

As for more teal in room...
I’m willing to get ride of coffee table. 5 recliners total. Ottoman seems redundant. Color with coffee table?
  • PRO

What is the width of side windows?......... 50” would have been plenty....honestly With all the recliners no need for a coffee table...I would add a couple bunching tables that can be moved around as needed.

The windows are 30 inches with framing. I originally wanted drapes hung further out to make windows appear larger but slant of ceilings made me barely able to hang rod. The door with casing is 77
Inches. So I doubled to 150 and ordered 75 inch panels. I thought all four should be exact same panel size.
  • PRO

Oh my....no way to much fabric.....can you have some width removed and than add the trim? I think you will be so much happier with them in the long run...your panels flatten out when pulling them closed so even 50” wide would cover the French doors and the side windows no problem....gosh I would have helped you with that....;/

They would not of cost so much either!
