The photos don't look like 'La Paz' to me. Instead, your friend’s photo looks more like it could be 'Lima.’ Since your flower was already fading, it’s not easy to identify. Maybe Hans-Werner will need to invent a new dance like 'LaPango.' :-)

Regarding Emaryllis, a few weeks ago, I noticed that the text underneath the photos was not appearing correctly. I hope that the site is just being updated to fix a few issues. It is a wonderful resource and a pleasure to browse!

From a cursory look at your two pictures, I would say that these are Lima which is more purple/ burgundy. La Paz aka Tango & La Pango (which I and many others believe are one and the same) has flowers much more pink plus other subtle differences.

All my Lima pictures look very similar to your two above.

I remember a few years ago that ETGB's Tango (or was it La Paz), all turned out to be Limas so who knows what your gift bulb may be. If it has the cybister shape then it really could be either and I'm not sure that most sellers would know the difference.

Of the two, I think I prefer La Paz/Tango but I wouldn't turn up my nose to Lima either!

Of course, this is just my opinion so anyone else who differs with my opinion please add theirs!!

I agree, Fred! My partner has often looked at me in wonder when he sees me looking at photos on Emaryllis.com. He doesn't understand how I could look at the pictures over and over and over again. I love that site for helping to identify mislabels, too.

Yes, gorgeous indeed, Béatrice! My La Paz decided that it wants to stay with me. Scapes are growing so fast even in the cool room where I have the bulbs now. It is still in the box but I have to plant it tomorrow, I cannot keep it untill Christmas. Well, maybe next year it will be a gift...

I think that sounds wonderful :-))) I was just in the basement looking to see if I had a La Paz down there and there wasn't one but that's ok because over the weekend I went to a local nursery and picked one up. Something told me to get one and I'm glad I listened. Perhaps it's the same "something" that told you to keep yours :-)))

once I had just a small bulb of the paz, not very satisfactory, and it is by seeing on this forum beautiful plants with several flower stalks that I finally decided to keep it, its flowers are very large for a cybister! now I'm waiting for him to form a big clump :-)

Fred how lucky to have so many choices in a local nursery !! in France, it's impossible, you have to order ! so you'll have a bloom soon :-)))

For what it is worth, I think should surely keep it! For me, the colors of Lima are much more appealing and the shape also more attractive.

Thank you all for the kind words :-))) My little copper doohickies were born out of necessity and a little brain storming. I had been thinking of making something to support my hippies when they flower that looks kinda ok and this is the latest version of what I came up with :-)))

Wow...she looks amazing and the beautiful green background makes me so jealous :-))))) The temperature today is -12C and everything is frozen solid, including the large river that flows through Boston.

Béatrice, she is gorgeous! She looks quite different from mine but this may be because yours gets more light. Is this is new bulb or one you've had for years?

Ordered Exotic Star from Hirt's Gardens. The first two bulbs were tagged with the typical Dutch bulb label attached and I was so impressed with the beauty that I ordered 2 more weeks later from Hirt's. The seconds two only arrived in a paper bag with "Glee" hand written which was kinda suspect. Looks like both will likely be La Paz, as Blanca guessed from the buds.

I had this bulb from royal color in 2014 , maybe it's flowers aren't my favourite, but it is a so strong grower and so generous giving many scapes that now I love it so muche I gave it a big pot ;-)

Fred , it is green becaude it rains non stop !!! it is difficult to find a moment without rain for taking a picture in natural light ! but is true we don't have so much frost

agapanthe64, I may attempt for what I have now and that would be La Paz x Papilio. It would be an experiment since I still have frozen Papilio pollen in the fridge for 9 months and would like to test viability.

My new bulb has 4 scapes too and I'm really happy that I kept it :-)) I'm curious to see if I can keep it like that. I think I never had more than two scapes on an old bulb.

Brian so we make the same cross , I used frozen pollen too...

Here is my always admired LaPaz/Tango. She has good color.

Brian, somewhere around here I have one decent sized seedling of Papilio x LaPaz/Tango. I thought there were more but can only find one. A few years from blooming though...and I just found my pot of Tango x papilio so it appears that they are good both way.
