If it has several branches starting to grow out, I'd probably keep them. When the branches get older they'll get stronger. If they get too lengthy, trim them down later. That's probably what I would do.

In general, most plants form stockier/stronger stems if they are receiving strong light. (How strong the light intensity a plant may want can vary considerable by the type of plant.) After blooming, you may try gradually increasing the amount of light your plant is getting.

Paul, my plants are getting at least 6 hours of strong Hawaiian sunlight at this time of the year. That will increase as the sun gets higher at the end of December.. I am more concerned at this point as to what pruning measures I should take to improve flower presentation long-term.. Thanks for your comment though.
