I say mudroom in the dead space. Are the WD connections out in the middle of the floor?

Agree with the mud room, and you can probably do a bang up laundry room with a dog wash!!!

Washer and dryer are basically in the middle of the floor. It is likely I can put up a wall between the washer dryer and the water heater furnace. I will need to figure out where to relocate the pantry.

Isn't a pantry in the basement a little bit impractical and out of the way? Can you access the under stairs closet from the basement or does that happen upstairs?

Its a strange spot, but there is no room in kitchen for this. This is our Costco pantry and where we store extra TP and things like that. My current idea is to have it open up to the mudroom and just be a reach in depth. But I am also looking for places to relocate it. Below is a potential reconfigure, but it feels like there is still a ton of dead space here. Between the mockupped cabinets and the wall is the door to the under stair closet. I almost want there to be a mobile work table in the middle, but that will impede traffic flow too much.

Thanks. That fold out craft cart type thing could be useful. If done right I can see this area used for messy crafts and staging, laundry folding etc. I need to go measure and make sure teh Washer and dryer will fit sideways as I have them depicted.

decoenthusiast, the second photo I think we could actually do. Only other option seems to keep them in there current position but add walls. I think in the mudroom area the door for the closet under the stairs is throwing things off. if we do a reading or office nook on the family room side then we could fill in the one side with cabinets for storage or a large closet. which would contract the room into more of a hallway, which in this case makes sense.
