Wrap them in non led christmas light including the pot and then wrap a cotton sheet or two round them including the pots and pin it so the cold can't get in. If you don't have and sheets to sacrifice head to your local thrift.

Be sure to protect the roots. I usually stuff a bunch of wadded up newspaper around the bottom to insulate the lower stem before I wrap them. That's what saved my yellow COT when we had a really bad freeze in North Port. It came back out from those bottom areas that were protected. I also double wrap the container, so wrap the container separately then wrap the entire plant and pot.

Our forecast has gone up to a low of 37, and I'm usually a few degrees warmer here, because of all the buildings crammed so close together, so I'm only bringing in the tender tropicals, throwing a blanket over the pencil cactus, but the rest are on their own.

I heard 2 diff forecasts for the jax area. One said 37 one said 34F so I think i will just cover most things and bring the super tender potted stuff up in the carport area near the house. I have a bunch of jackfruit seedlings, red fingerlimes and buddah's hands that are pretty tender on their own roots. I lost a decent sized own root buddah's hand at 27F..even though it was covered. My winter gh isnt even up yet lol.

Sultry, this definitely took us by surprise. Usually doesn't get this cold up here until December at least. I was not aware buddha's hands had seeds, but then, I've never eaten or grown one. I had a friend who lost her 10-year-old one in SW FL in 2010 when temps went down to 25 for a couple of nights. She tried to wrap the trunk to cover the graft area and above, but it didn't work. They're just very tender, I guess.

I have brugs just settting blooms, so I don't know what to do about those. One is almost 7 feet tall, so I can't cover it. Do you think they'll be o.k.? I thought maybe I would just pull a pillowcase down over the buds.
