I'm moving into my first house soon and I have inherited a couple of sofas (the one in the photo and a matching love seat, they are excellent quality, very comfortable, a great size for my new space (small), I like the shape and the wooden legs (covered by the skirt).

I think the problem is fairly obvious, I really hate the floral pattern. I would love a more modern and contemporary look, maybe something grey and kind of mid century modern. However I'm on a budget, and hate the idea of buying new poorer quality sofas just because I don't like the current pattern it just seems so wasteful!

Most generic slip covers for purchase seem to be for much larger sofas especially in the arms. I have tried buying a generic stretch slip cover and it looked horrible worse than just throwing a sheet over it. I'm not a great sewer but thought I would give it a go but the only fabric shop I have access didn't have anything nice or affordable.

does anyone have any suggestions!? maybe something I could order online? or a good quality generic slip cover that could be altered to fit my sofa?
