I’m updating a basement that is concrete walls. I’m looking for a DIY option for covering the walls that will allow me to hang some art and ignore the imperfections in the walls.

I’m thinking to cover the walls with 1/2” think cork tiles and then cover the cork wall tiles with a vinyl wall covering. My concerns are
1) I wouldn’t know if the cork started crumbling behind the vinyl.
2) Would the vinyl wall covering be top heavy and pull the cork tiles off the wall.

I’ve seen where I can order sheets of cork and I believe I should be able to find a strong adhesive for it to stick to the walls. But I haven’t found anything that directly addresses whether there are issues putting it in a basement (no water issues in the 3 years I’ve lived there) or adhering a heavy fabric to it after it’s up.
